Erica Hood


Erica Hood is the Feet of Clay Artist in Resident for 2015-16.

Erica Hood was born in Massachusetts and raised in Southern Maine. She graduated from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2014 with a Bachelors of Fine Art in ceramics. She studied under professionals Ben Ryterband, Janna Longacre, Kathy King, Kate Doody, and Janice Jakielski. While studying at MassArt, Erica became proficient at wheel throwing, hand building, mold making, casting, and ceramic chemistry. She utilizes a variety of processes to create open-ended, narrative based installations that are influenced by nature, science, and horror. Delicate, hand built crows are usually the subjects of her installations. After graduating MassArt, Erica has went on to teach at The Clay School in Lynn Massachusetts, private schools in Massachusetts and Maine, and MassArt related workshops at Haytsack Mountain School of Crafts in Deer Isle Maine. She continues to create her ceramic artwork in her personal studio in Southern Maine, and show her work in exhibitions and publications.
